symptoms

Symptoms vary from person to person. They are unpredictable and can change over time.

Fatigue

Chronic fatigue is the most common symptom of MS, occurring in about 80% of people living with the condition. Unlike mere tiredness, fatigue is a daily lack of energy that is not relieved by sleep. Fatigue can significantly impair day-to-day activities and quality of life.

vision problems

Considered an early sign of MS, inflammation of the optic nerve can cause vision problems, like blurriness or poor contrast.

Difficulty Walking

Several symptoms of MS can contribute to difficulty walking, including muscle weakness, balance issues, stiffness, fatigue, and sensory deficits. You may feel off balance when attempting to stand too.

bladder control issues

Urinary urgency and incontinence may be embarrassing, but these are often the more manageable symptoms of MS. However, if not treated, more severe and long-term issues can arise. Bowel issues may also occur from MS.

Depression

Another common symptom of MS, depression affects many people living with the condition, who might also experience mood swings or irritability. Cognitive difficulties may also occur.

numbness

Mild or severe numbness in the face, arms, or legs is another common symptom of MS, often one of the earliest signs of the condition. A tingling sensation that comes and goes on its own may also occur.

Sexual Problems

Because MS attacks the central nervous system, there may be issues with sexual arousal, including orgasm. MS does not typically affect fertility.
